About Matt
Matt Price has spent his career in alternative finance, starting in 2008 — early enough to watch the industry grow up, and to watch it lose something along the way. He has founded and built multiple organizations that together facilitated more than $2 billion in financing for over 55,000 American businesses, culminating in a successful exit to a global investment firm.
He founded Coast Funding in 2021 with a specific thesis: that the technology had improved enormously while the client experience had gotten worse. Speed had become the industry's only selling point, and the relationship — the part that actually determines whether capital helps a business — had been automated away. Coast was built on the principle that best-in-class technology does not replace great relationships with clients, and with Coast, you get both.
Under his leadership Coast has grown quickly in a crowded market, pairing genuine investment in automation and applied AI with a model that still puts a named advisor in front of every client. Matt is directly involved in how Coast structures funding and how advisors are held accountable for the recommendations they make.
On working with business owners
What I am most proud of is the feedback we receive from clients after they work with us. That experience begins about one minute into the first conversation with our Business Funding Advisors. Clients consistently say: “You guys really are different” or “thanks for taking the time to understand our situation.” This is what the Coast experience is all about.
Most owners we speak with have been sold to rather than advised. They have been offered the maximum their revenue supports, of a program that isn't the right tool for their specific need, by someone who will never speak to them again. We enjoy being the counterweight to that — walking through the best solutions tailored to the client's specific needs, and being honest when the answer is that they should wait, or borrow less, or go to a bank.
