When your business applies for funding, you trust Coast Funding with sensitive financial information. This page explains the safeguards we use to protect that information, how to recognize fraud attempts that impersonate lenders, and how to report suspicious activity to us.

How We Protect Your Information

Coast Funding maintains an information security program with administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect your data, including:

  • Encryption in transit. Connections to coastfunding.com and our client and partner portals are protected with industry-standard TLS 1.2 or higher encryption.
  • Encryption at rest. Client information is encrypted at rest in the systems where we store it, including our Salesforce CRM and our email environment. Our website itself stores no client records.
  • Role-based access controls. Access to client information is limited to employees who need it to do their jobs, following least-privilege principles.
  • Monitoring. We monitor our systems for unauthorized access and unusual activity.
  • Employee security training. Our team receives training on data protection, phishing awareness, and secure handling of client information.
  • Vendor due diligence. We evaluate the security practices of the service providers that process data on our behalf, including our application, hosting, and bank-connection vendors.

No security program can guarantee absolute protection, but these practices are designed to reduce risk and are reviewed as our business and the threat landscape evolve.

How We Handle Your Bank Information

If you connect a bank account through our Swell program or during underwriting, the connection is made through Plaid, a specialized bank-data provider. Coast Funding receives read-only access to your account and transaction data — we cannot move money through this connection, and our employees cannot see or store your online banking username or password.

Protect Yourself from Funding Scams

Fraudsters sometimes impersonate lenders and funding companies, including Coast Funding. Keep these commitments in mind:

  • Coast Funding will never ask for your full Social Security number, your online banking password, or payment by gift card, wire to an individual, or cryptocurrency via email or text.
  • We will never demand an upfront fee to "release" or "guarantee" your funding.
  • Legitimate email from our team comes from addresses ending in @coastfunding.com. Check the sender's full address, not just the display name.
  • If a call or message pressures you to act immediately, threatens consequences, or sounds too good to be true, stop and verify. Hang up and call us directly at (855) 893-3294.

Phishing Red Flags

  • Unexpected messages about an application you did not submit or an "approval" you did not request;
  • False urgency — "your funding will be canceled in 24 hours unless you act now";
  • Links to lookalike domains (misspellings of coastfunding.com) or requests to log in through a link in an email or text;
  • Attachments you were not expecting, or requests to install software or give remote access to your computer;
  • Requests to send sensitive documents or credentials over email, text, or messaging apps.

Report Suspicious Activity or a Security Vulnerability

If you receive a suspicious email, text, or call claiming to be from Coast Funding, or you believe your account has been compromised, contact us right away at (855) 893-3294 or info@coastfunding.com.

If you are a security researcher and believe you have found a vulnerability in coastfunding.com or a related Coast Funding system, please report it confidentially to security@coastfunding.com. Include enough detail for us to reproduce the issue, and please give us a reasonable opportunity to investigate and remediate before disclosing it publicly. We appreciate responsible disclosure and will acknowledge legitimate reports.

Tips for Keeping Your Account Secure

  • Use a strong, unique password for your Coast Funding portal account, and enable multi-factor authentication wherever it is offered;
  • Keep your devices, browsers, and antivirus software up to date;
  • Look for the padlock (HTTPS) in your browser before entering credentials, and avoid logging in over public Wi-Fi;
  • Review your business bank statements regularly and report unfamiliar activity to your bank promptly.
