Coast Funding Services LLC ("Coast Funding," "we," "us," or "our") provides commercial business funding to businesses nationwide, both directly and through our premier funding partners. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect through coastfunding.com (including our Swell program pages), our online application, and our client and partner portals (together, the "Site"), how we use and share that information, and the choices you have. By using the Site, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy.

This Privacy Policy should be read together with our Terms of Use and our Security page.

1. Information We Collect

Information You Provide to Us

When you request funding, create an account, or communicate with us, you may provide:

  • Contact and identity information — your name, email address, phone number, mailing address, date of birth, Social Security number, and government-issued identification used to verify your identity.
  • Business information — legal business name, entity type, industry, time in business, ownership details, and Tax Identification Number (EIN).
  • Financial information — bank statements, bank account and routing numbers, revenue figures, existing debt obligations, and personal and business credit history.
  • Application and account credentials — usernames and passwords you create for our client or partner portals.
  • Communications — the contents of emails, messages, phone calls (which may be recorded for quality and compliance purposes), and any feedback or reviews you submit.

If you provide us with information about another person — for example, a co-owner, guarantor, or authorized contact — you represent that you have that person's permission to share it with us.

Information Collected Automatically

As you navigate the Site, we and our service providers automatically collect:

  • Usage information — pages viewed, links clicked, time spent on pages, referring pages, and progress through our online application funnel.
  • Device information — IP address, browser type, operating system, device identifiers, and screen characteristics.
  • Approximate location — city- or region-level location inferred from your IP address.

Bank Connection Data

If you connect a bank account through our Swell program or during underwriting, we use Plaid Inc. ("Plaid") to retrieve account and transaction information from your financial institution. Coast Funding receives read-only access to this data; our employees cannot see or store your online banking username or password. Plaid's handling of your information is governed by the Plaid End User Privacy Policy.

Information from Third-Party Sources

We may receive information about you from:

  • Consumer and commercial credit reporting agencies (see the credit authorization terms in our Terms of Use);
  • Identity verification and fraud prevention service providers;
  • Our funding partners, referral partners, and brokers who submit or receive applications;
  • Publicly available sources and government records.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Provide, operate, and improve the Site and our funding services;
  • Verify your identity and conduct due diligence, including as required by the USA PATRIOT Act;
  • Process and underwrite funding applications, including evaluating creditworthiness for commercial-purpose credit;
  • Match your business with funding programs offered directly by Coast Funding or through our funding partners;
  • Service accounts, process payments, and communicate with you about your application or funding;
  • Send you marketing communications about products and services we believe may interest your business (you can opt out at any time);
  • Conduct research, analytics, and testing to improve our services;
  • Detect, investigate, and prevent fraud, unauthorized activity, and other misuse;
  • Comply with applicable laws, regulations, and legal process, and enforce our agreements.

We may also create de-identified or aggregated data that does not identify you or your business and use it for any lawful purpose.

3. How We Share Your Information

We share personal information only as described below:

  • Funding partners. If we place your application with one of our premier funding partners, we share the application and supporting information needed to evaluate and fund your request.
  • Service providers. We share information with vendors who perform services on our behalf — such as application processing, bank data connections, identity verification, credit reporting, payment processing, cloud hosting, analytics, and customer communications — under obligations to protect it and use it only for the services they provide to us.
  • Credit reporting and fraud prevention. We share information with credit bureaus and fraud prevention services in connection with underwriting and account servicing.
  • Legal and compliance. We may disclose information to comply with law, regulation, subpoena, or other legal process; to protect the rights, property, or safety of Coast Funding, our clients, or others; or in connection with an audit or regulatory examination.
  • Business transfers. If Coast Funding is involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets, information may be transferred as part of that transaction.
  • With your consent. We may share information for other purposes disclosed to you at the time of collection or with your direction or consent.

No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Text messaging originator opt-in data and consent will not be shared with any third parties, excluding vendors acting solely on our behalf to deliver messages.

4. Cookies and Other Tracking Technologies

We use cookies, pixels, and similar technologies to operate the Site, measure audiences, remember preferences, and support our advertising. The specific technologies currently in use on the Site include:

  • Google Tag Manager and Google Analytics 4 — site usage measurement and analytics. You can opt out with the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.
  • Google Ads conversion tracking and remarketing tags — measuring the effectiveness of our advertising and showing our ads to prior Site visitors. You can manage ad personalization in your Google Ads Settings.
  • Meta (Facebook) pixel — measuring advertising performance and showing our ads on Facebook and Instagram. You can manage ad preferences in your Facebook ad settings.
  • LinkedIn insight and conversion tags — measuring advertising performance and showing our ads on LinkedIn. These are loaded by our application funnel. You can opt out of LinkedIn retargeting.
  • Reddit pixel — measuring advertising performance and showing our ads on Reddit. You can manage this in your Reddit privacy settings.
  • ZoomInfo — identifying the business associated with a visit, for business-to-business marketing. You can submit a request through the ZoomInfo privacy center.
  • ClickCease — detecting click fraud on our paid advertising. This protects our advertising spend and is not used to show you ads.
  • Trustpilot widgets — displaying customer reviews on the Site.
  • Heyflow — powering our online application funnel and measuring application progress.
  • Cloudflare — site security, bot protection, and content delivery. Our virtual consultation uses Cloudflare Turnstile to confirm that a real person is starting the conversation. It runs invisibly and asks nothing of you. Turnstile processes limited technical signals such as IP address, browser type, and device characteristics solely to tell people from bots; it is not used to identify, profile, or target you, and it is not used for advertising. Most browsers let you refuse or delete cookies through your browser settings; doing so may limit some Site features. You can also learn about industry opt-outs for interest-based advertising at the Network Advertising Initiative and the Digital Advertising Alliance.

Please note that the platform and industry opt-outs above are specific to the browser and device on which you exercise them. If you use more than one browser or device, you will need to opt out on each. The controls described in Section 5 and in "How to Opt Out of Sale or Sharing" apply to your use of this Site and are the more direct route.

5. Opt-Out Preference Signals (Global Privacy Control)

We honor the Global Privacy Control (GPC) browser signal as a valid opt-out preference signal where required by applicable law. If your browser or extension transmits a GPC signal, we will treat it as a request to opt out of any sale or sharing of personal information associated with your browser. Except for GPC, the Site does not currently respond to "Do Not Track" browser signals, for which no industry standard has been adopted.

6. Choices About Your Information

  • Access and correction. You may review and update certain information through your client or partner portal, or by contacting us at compliance@coastfunding.com.
  • Marketing emails. You can opt out of marketing emails by clicking the unsubscribe link in any marketing message or by emailing us. We may still send you transactional and servicing messages about your application or account.
  • Text messages. Reply STOP to any Coast Funding text message to stop receiving texts. See the SMS terms in our Terms of Use.
  • Cookies and advertising. Use the browser settings and opt-out tools described in Section 4, or enable Global Privacy Control as described in Section 5.

7. Data Retention

We retain personal information for as long as reasonably necessary to provide our services, administer your account or application, comply with legal, regulatory, tax, and accounting requirements (including record-retention obligations that apply to commercial finance companies), resolve disputes, prevent fraud, and enforce our agreements. When information is no longer needed for these purposes, we take steps to delete it or de-identify it. Retention periods vary by the type of information and the context in which it was collected.

8. Security

We use administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect your information, including encryption of data in transit, role-based access controls, and employee security training. Bank account connections made through Plaid are read-only, and Coast Funding employees cannot view your online banking credentials. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. The Site may contain links to websites operated by third parties, including our funding partners, Trustpilot, and financial institutions. We are not responsible for the privacy practices or content of those sites. We encourage you to review the privacy policy of every site you visit.

10. Children's Privacy

The Site is intended for business use by adults and is not directed to anyone under 18 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13, and the Site is not directed to children within the meaning of the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). If you believe a child has provided us personal information, please contact us at compliance@coastfunding.com and we will delete it.

11. Notice to Nevada Residents

We do not sell "covered information" as defined by Nevada law. Nevada residents may nonetheless submit a standing request to opt out of any future sale by emailing compliance@coastfunding.com with the subject line "Nevada Opt-Out."

12. Notice to California Residents

This section supplements the rest of this Privacy Policy and applies to California residents under the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (together, the "CCPA"). Because Coast Funding provides commercial-purpose credit, much of the information we collect relates to businesses; this section applies to personal information about individual California residents, such as business owners and guarantors.

We collect these categories from you directly, automatically from your devices, and from the third-party sources described in Section 1. We use them for the business purposes described in Section 2 and disclose them for business purposes to the recipients described in Section 3.

Sale and Sharing of Personal Information

Coast Funding does not sell personal information in the way that term is commonly understood — we do not provide your information to data brokers or list sellers, and we do not sell it for money. However, like most companies that advertise online, we use advertising and analytics cookies and pixels on this Site. Under the CCPA, that activity may constitute a "sale" or "sharing" of personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising, including showing you Coast Funding advertisements on other websites and social media platforms. We do not sell or share sensitive personal information, and we have no actual knowledge of selling or sharing the personal information of anyone under 16 years of age. We do not use or disclose sensitive personal information for purposes other than those permitted by the CCPA.

Your California Privacy Rights

Subject to certain exceptions, California residents have the right to:

  • Know the categories and specific pieces of personal information we have collected about you, the sources, our purposes, and the categories of recipients;
  • Delete personal information we have collected from you;
  • Correct inaccurate personal information;
  • Opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information — see "How to Opt Out of Sale or Sharing" below;
  • Limit the use of sensitive personal information (we use it only as permitted by the CCPA);
  • Non-discrimination — we will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.

How to Opt Out of Sale or Sharing

You may opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information at any time by:

  • selecting Your Privacy Choices in the footer of any page on this Site, and turning off advertising cookies;
  • enabling Global Privacy Control in your browser, which we honor as described in Section 5; or
  • emailing compliance@coastfunding.com with the subject line "California Opt-Out."

Opting out will not affect your ability to apply for or receive funding.

How to Submit a Request

California residents (or their authorized agents) may submit a rights request by:

  • Emailing compliance@coastfunding.com with the subject line "California Privacy Request";
  • Calling us toll-free at (855) 893-3294; or
  • Writing to Coast Funding Services LLC, Attn: Privacy, 4350 Executive Drive, Suite 305, San Diego, CA 92121.

We will verify your identity before fulfilling a request, typically by matching information you provide against information we already hold. An authorized agent must provide proof of your written permission to act on your behalf, and we may still require you to verify your own identity. We also honor the Global Privacy Control signal as described in Section 5.

Shine the Light

We do not disclose personal information to third parties for their own direct marketing purposes, so no disclosures are available to request under California Civil Code § 1798.83.

13. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will post the revised version here and update the "Last updated" date. If we make material changes, we will provide additional notice — such as a statement on our homepage or a direct notification — before the changes take effect.
